Join us for a magical tour to Eastern Tibet, a land of spirituality and mysticism surrounded by snow capped mountains and ancient temples.
This tour coincides with the most auspicious day within the Buddhist Calendar, the full moon of Saka Dawa. Not only does this day mark the birth, enlightenment and parinirvana of Buddha Shakyamuni, but it is also the anniversary of the enlightenment of the millions of sages of Shambhala after receiving the precious teachings of the Kalachakra Tantra. During this most holy of months, the merits generated by virtuous actions are multiplied 100,000 times. Along with the thousands of monks who live in the ancient monasteries of Dzamthang, we will have the wonderful opportunity to participate in extensive prayers and offerings being performed to mark this special occasion.
Renowned by all as the experts in the complete practices of the Kalachakra Tantra, the Jonang Tradition has been based in the Dzamthang Region for more than 640 years. On this site, construction is currently nearing completion of the world’s largest three dimensional Kalachakra Mandala measuring more than 160 metres in diameter and 60 meters tall. Participants of the tour will be among the first foreigners ever to experience this incredibly holy pilgrimage site.
In addition to visiting Dzamthang, there will also be numerous opportunities to practice meditation and explore the surrounding temples and mountain hermitages where dedicated practitioners are currently engaged in life-long retreat on the Six Vajra Yogas. Khentrul Rinpoché will be giving the profound pith instructions of the First Vajra Yoga for the first time to qualified senior students. If you would like to know if you are eligible to participate in this extraordinary retreat, please visit this page and complete the application process.
During this time, everyone else will have the opportunity to spend time with the monks of Dzamthang and Chothang in order to learn how to use the special ritual musical instruments as well as how to make the very ornate ritual butter tormas used in ceremonies. This will be a rare opportunity to experience the behind the scenes activities which make Tibetan rituals so amazing and colorful.
Then on the most karmically powerful day of the full moon, we will be participating in a very special and auspicious celebration in Chothang Monastery to mark the 20th anniversary of Khentrul Rinpoché’s Root Lama, Kyabje Lama Lobsang Trinlé. During this extensive ceremony, Rinpoché will be offering to the monastery and the monks a specially commissioned portrait of his Lama. At this time, they will complete the consecration of many very special Innate Kalachakra statues that Rinpoché has commissioned as a cause for the Kalachakra Dharma to flourish in this world. It will also be an historic occasion in which Rinpoché and his students will have the opportunity to meet face-to-face for the first time with his Lama’s recognised reincarnation, the young monk Ven. Ngawang Khidrup who is currently studying Buddhist Philosophy at Chothang Monastery.
As you can see, this tour will surely be an unforgettable opportunity that only a handful of people in this world will ever get the chance to experience. Don’t hesitate to register now and create the unbelievable causes for happiness and wellbeing not only in this life, but for countless lives to come.
