[14] The Divine Shower of Blessings
by Khentrul Rinpoché Jamphel Lödro

EMA HO!

Universal embodiment of all Buddhas,
Majesty of the Dharma within the three realms,
Treasure of compassion with tremendous affection,
Unequalled, powerful protector, Hold us near!
Sovereign of wisdom, total power, strength and love,
You are the secret treasure who encompasses all enlightened families.
Lama think of me!

Through cultivating the ocean-like immeasurable two accumulations,
You equal every Buddha’s wisdom and compassion.
Your spiritual power for me exceeds every Victor’s kindness;
My gratitude is beyond comprehension.
Incomparable Lama Lobsang Trinlé, Think of me!

Innate, sublime wisdom of natural empty appearances,
Peaceful expanse of self-arising spontaneous pristine awareness,
You are inseparable from the unchanging, vital spheres of great bliss.
To you, master of definitive meaning, I supplicate!

Although ground and fruition are indivisible,
And the ultimate dimensions’ expanse of inner awareness,
Is stable, everlasting, unwavering peace without divisions,
Relative reality’s illusion-like magical displays are without end.
To your infinitely marvellous apparitions, I supplicate!

For incalculable aeons,
In truth you are inseparable from the boundless Amitayus and Amitabha,
The supreme Victor of Victors, blazing with brilliance!
With inconceivable emanations to tame beings,
You appear as Amitabha’s spiritual heir, the Bodhisattva Vajrapani,

Sublime Dharma-treasure of the wise Shakya King.
You are the great expounder and charioteer of the holy Dharma,
From your spontaneous emanations, one hundred-thousand
Moonbeams appear in order to enlighten your indestructible four activities.
To you, protector of beings, I bow!

Great Regent of Shakyamuni in this fortunate aeon,
Great witness at the feet of the previous Buddha Kashyapa,
Omniscient jewel-like friend, unique ornament of our world—Vasubandhu;
To you, son of the Buddha’s Dharma in India, I supplicate!

In the land of snow, You were the ancient Dharma heir Yudra Nyingpo,
In the eastern Gyalrong region.
You were Dromtonpa—regent of Atisha, the Kadampa reviver of Buddhism.
You were Milarepa’s heart son in Ngari, the white cotton-clad Kagyupa—Zhiwa Öd.
To you who raised the victory-banner of accomplishment, I supplicate!

Above the white earth, you were renowned as the great Sakya Drukpa Gyaltsen,
At the Holy mountain Nagyalma, you were born the great Jonangpa Jangsem Gyalwa Yeshé.
At glorious Samye sanctuary you were the unsurpassable Nyingma Longchenpa.
To your countless, diverse miraculous emanations, I supplicate!

Virtuous one, holding the life-force of the teachings—Gelek Pal,
Skilled in taming others with inconceivable magical emanations.
You made a great difference in Dokham [during] the degenerate darkness.
To the protector with great love and compassion, I supplicate!

You were the supreme illuminator of Buddhism in South Sri Lanka,
You were Mahanta, the son of the great Buddhist King Ashoka,
You were Thang Zhan, the great charioteer of the Mahayana in China.
To you who opened the eyes of the universe, I supplicate!

As the seven great continents and four oceans rise and wane,
You remain steady within the infinitely vast universe,
Spreading, stabilising and making Buddhism flourish throughout.
To you who are a great heroic illuminator of Dharma, I supplicate!

Hearing, you retain a hundred scriptures like the ocean holds water;
Contemplating, you eradicate the slightest misconceptions through keen discernment;
Meditating, you conquer and stabilise sublime indivisible bliss and emptiness.
To the feet of Lama Lobsang Trinlé, I supplicate!

You have seized the irreversible and secret profound teachings of definitive meaning,
The life-force of the profound wisdom of meditative concentration,
Peerless, omniscient one in the land of glacial mountains,
To you, indisputable Lion of explication, I bow!

Outwardly, you are like the crown jewel of distinguished scholars and siddhas;
Inwardly, you are the Shambhala Kalki—Manjugosha;
Secretly, you are the great sovereign of secrets—Vajrapani;
Most secretly, you are the Primordial Buddha—enjoyment body of Kalachakra.
To you Lama, I bow!

With hundreds of thousands of lights of the wisdom sun and compassionate moon,
For as long as the black darkness of beings remains,
Like a great wave without deceitfulness, a wish-fulfilling jewel,
And a wish-fulfilling tree, [to you] protector of beings, I bow!

Now, as the dark age quickly approaches,
Protector, when you manifest as an emanation of the Kalkin Raudra Chakri,
Please nurture us and guide us to Shambhala.
To you, great universal guide for beings, I supplicate!

Until we reach the very quintessence of enlightenment,
You appear as infinitely luminous Buddha Amitabha;
You appear as the fierce Kalkin Raudra Chakri, blazing with radiance;
You appear as the unlimited emanations of awakening.

Your lives have captured every possible magical display,
In whatever emanations you may appear.
May we always be your foremost disciples!
Eventually, may we complete the ocean-like two accumulations!
May we become a protector like you, and a saviour for beings!

Through the power of the two accumulations and the victors of the three times,
Through the power of the unerring interdependence seal,
And my glittering white pure intention.
May the meaning of this prayer be accomplished!
Lama of the nature of reality, may our minds merge, remaining indivisible!

Rest the mind in silence for a few moments.

Precious One who presents the excellent speech of the Victors;
[He who] attained mastery in explaining the instructions of profound meaning;
[To the one who] increases the sacred Dharma that teaches the essence;
I pray at the feet of the gracious lama.

The fundamental inseparability of ground and result, innate disposition of the mind;
Manifesting through the perfect realisation of the profound path,
Just like a flawless [jewel] that is revealed to others;
I pray at the feet of the gracious lama.

During this time of degeneration, from the perspective of
The humble stream of the lineage of the excellent path of Vajra Yoga,
Because of accomplishing [it] myself and explaining [it] to others,
I pray to extract the essential part of these teachings!

In the beginning, opening the door with the ripening empowerments;
In the middle, sustaining [my practice] with the instructions of practical advice;
In the end, clearing away hindrances with the essential experiences;
I pray to manifest the unmistaken path to liberation!

Precious mind itself which is free from gathering and dispersing;
True nature polluted by mistaken unknowing;
By relying on the essential points of the profound supreme method,
May I manifest just like the abiding nature.

Precious emanation of all Buddhas;
Lord of Dharma, inseparable from all Buddhas;
One who possesses the kindness surpassing all Buddhas;
From my heart, I pray by remembering [your] kindness!

In all the births and rebirths of myself and others,
After being continuously cared for by you, my protector,
For [all] mothers to become of one taste in the expanse of the Dharmakaya,
Please bless me with [your] supreme compassion!

The appearance of the five radiant empty-forms, the body of the lama
Is perfected in the state of non-grasping self-awareness;
After abandoning the body made of impure flesh and blood,
May I complete the practices of Individual Withdrawal and Concentration.

The supreme wind of unmoving primordial wisdom, the speech of the lama,
Is perfected in the state of effortless meditative equipoise.
Therefore, stopping the movements of the 21,600 winds,
May I complete the practices of Life-force Control and Retention.

After the essential drop of great bliss, the mind of the lama,
Is perfected in the entity of the Dharmakaya free from elaborations,
[One] destroys the propensities which move the impurities of dripping bliss.
May I complete the practices of Recollection and Absorption.

The visions of the inner-fire of the primordial wisdom of great bliss,
Are purified in the Nirmanakaya, the illusory body of outer world and inner beings.
The clearlight of realisation perceives the actual primordial wisdom.
May I master the practices of the essential pith.

The liberation within the state that does not grasp illusory dreams,
Is purified in the Sambhogakaya, the victorious mental body of the Bardo.
The impure consciousness transfers to the expanse of the Dharmakaya.
May I complete the practices of the sublime path of union.

The inseparability of the exalted mind of the lama and my own mind,
Completes the intention of the ultimate Dharmakaya.
Then, in the non-empty ocean of the three realms of cyclic existence
May I spontaneously accomplish the aims of myself and others.

Rest the mind in silence.
