Requests to Remain and Teach

In order to create the causes for the Lama to remain in this world and continue to teach us, you should now make a procession of offerings joined with supplications.

[17] Offering of the Dakinis

The first offering is the “Offering of the Five Dakinis” which is performed by five young ladies. If they are trained in the dance of the dakinis, then they can offer that, otherwise have the five kneel in front of the Lama’s throne, holding coloured katas corresponding to the five Buddha families: (1) yellow, (2) white, (3) red, (4) dark-blue / indigo and (5) green. As you recite each group of verses, have the corresponding dakini stand and lay the kata on the Lama’s throne.

Western Dakini

Dakinis of the western wheel family,
Endowed with bodies yellow in colour,
Even your retinues are surrounded by thousands of yellow [ones].
I pray to you, the yellow assembly!

Please accept these offerings,
And then gather the silk ribbons of the west in the sky.
In general, give friendly gifts to all yogis;
And especially, nurture the lifespan of the body of the Glorious Lama!

Here, the western dakini lays a yellow kata on the throne.

Northern Dakini

Dakinis of the northern lotus family,
Endowed with radiant bodies, white in colour,
Even your retinues are surrounded by thousands of white [ones].
I pray to you, the white assembly!

Please accept these offerings,
And then gather the silk ribbons of the north in the sky.
In general, give friendly gifts to all yogis;
And especially, nurture the lifespan of the body of the Glorious Lama!

Here, the northern dakini lays a white kata on the throne.

Southern Dakini

Dakinis of the southern jewel family,
Endowed with radiant bodies red in colour,
Even your retinues are surrounded by thousands of red [ones].
I pray to you, the red assembly!

Please accept these offerings,
And then gather the silk ribbons of the south in the sky.
In general, give friendly gifts to all yogis;
And especially, nurture the lifespan of the body of the Glorious Lama!

Here, the southern dakini lays a red kata on the throne.

Eastern Dakini

Dakinis of the eastern sword family,
Endowed with radiant bodies dark-blue in colour,
Even your retinues are surrounded by thousands of dark-blue [ones].
I pray to you, the dark-blue assembly!

Please accept these offerings,
And then gather the silk ribbons of the east in the sky.
In general, give friendly gifts to all yogis;
And especially, nurture the lifespan of the body of the Glorious Lama!

Here, the eastern dakini lays a dark-blue kata on the throne.

Central Dakini

Dakinis of the central vajra family,
Endowed with radiant bodies green in colour,
Even your retinues are surrounded by thousands of green [ones].
I pray to you, the green assembly!

Please accept these offerings,
And then gather the silk ribbons of the centre in the sky.
In general, give friendly gifts to all yogis;
And especially, nurture the lifespan of the body of the Glorious Lama!

Finally, the central dakini lays a green kata on the throne.
